Appropriate Technology India is a professionally managed development
agency, operating in Uttaranchal, working on a livelihoods linked
conservation initiative. The organisation is involved in research,
promoting livelihoods and on a community focussed
communications/training initiative. As part of our mandate we have
promoted two private limited enterprises, both of which are expected
to breakeven this year. The organisation is also aiming to be involved
with conservation related policy advocacy work. The organisation has
bias in recruiting personnel who have background and experience in the
commercial/industrial sector. We presently have a strong presence in
Dehra Doon with our head office in Ukhimath.
Project Manager: Will head a livelihood based conservation
initiative. A broad understanding/interest in ecological issues and
strong commercial and administrative skills are a prerequisite. The
project has a research component that the manager would be expected to
coordinate and guide. The person selected is likely to have a post
graduate professional qualification with a minimum of five years of
post qualification experience. The person recruited would be based in Ukhimath
Assistant Manager Finance, Accounts and Administration: The person recruited will be responsible for supporting processes and systems for accounting and management of individual projects. This would include management of inventories, credit and payables. The person would be responsible for lending support in management of investment, banking transactions and setting up and management of MIS. The responsibility would include lending support for all company law, foreign exchange transactions, taxation related issues and all audit related matters. The person recruited would be based in Dehra Doon and report to the Manager F, A & A.
Assistant Manager Research, Documentation and Training:
Responsibility would include coordination of research, documentation
and environment training and communications related activity. The
person recruited would also support generation of monthly and annual
reports on our activities. The work requires an academic inclination.
A post graduate qualification and an excellent command over English
and Hindi is essential. The person recruited would be based in Ukhimath
Assistant Field Manager(s): Responsibilities will include
implementation of livelihood, conservation and research oriented
activities at the village community level, described above. The person
should be professionally qualified with a high level of supervisory
skills. Two to three years of work experience and knowledge of Kumaoni
or Garhwali would be an advantage. Extensive village level travel is
involved. The person recruited would be based in Ukhimath
